Job summary

The RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to diagnose faults, perform roadside repairs and support members across the UK. You will be based locally within a Chelmsford cluster and respond to calls in your area, starting and finishing from home with a 40-hour expectation and optional overtime.

This role offers a structured development pathway, IMI accreditation opportunities, and a focus on safe, efficient customer service while you grow your practical skills in the field.

Qualifications

• Must have a full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience.
• OR 5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support.
• Diagnose faults independently and resolve issues to get members back on the road.
• Provide quick, confident solutions and reassuring service when members are stranded.
