Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking a Roadside Technician to operate on a field-based basis, attending national breakdown calls from Oldham and beyond. A company van, fuel card and tools are provided, with an attractive OTE and overtime opportunities.

The role offers a 40-hour week, rota 12 months in advance, and a bonus scheme. Applicants must have a UK driving licence (max 6 points) and be eligible to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Customer-focused approach required.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside mechanical and electrical repairs including battery replacement, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible to keep members mobile.
• Advise members on next steps and recovery if needed.
• Work safely in varied environments and conditions.

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

Monday – Sunday, 40 hours per week, between 6am and 12pm (could be 9am – 5pm or 8am – 4pm etc, shifts vary). You get your rota 12 months in advance, so you can plan accordingly. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

What you'll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of a Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally Level 3 but will consider level 2. (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
