Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking a Roadside Technician (field based) to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. The role is based in Milton Keynes and involves 40 hours per week with shifts starting between 6am and 12pm, seven days a week, with overtime opportunities.

The package includes a base salary of £36,400 with OTE up to £60,000, benefits, and career progression. Vehicle-related training and 24/7 wellbeing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or higher in light vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Full UK driving licence with up to 6 points and no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs (battery, wheel changes, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and options.
• Provide temporary solutions to keep members mobile when full repair isn’t possible.
• Advise members on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely in varied environments and conditions.

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: Up to £60,000

Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedulefor the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

What you'll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
