Job summary

RAC is seeking Roadside Mechanics to diagnose faults and perform diagnostics during roadside assistance. You will manage your own toolkit, keep the RAC van stocked, and report findings accurately.

You’ll make on-the-spot decisions on fixes and support fellow team members, delivering dependable roadside service. You’ll handle diverse calls—from diagnostics to flat tyres or batteries—staying calm under pressure and upholding RAC standards.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Light Vehicle Maintenance with 2+ years' experience
• 5+ years' experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform diagnostics
• Manage your own kit, keep van stocked and report accurately
• Make the call on fixes and support fellow team members on road calls
• Read situations quickly and provide calm, effective roadside assistance
• Keep customers informed and uphold RAC standards on every call
