Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Mechanic who can diagnose faults, fix tyres or batteries, and support members on the roadside. You’ll be issued an RAC van, fuel card, uniform, tools, and diagnostic kit from day one.

We value problem solvers and great people skills, and you’ll work in a dynamic environment across shifts, with London weighting where applicable and opportunities to develop toward accreditation on a structured pathway.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• Or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadside diagnostics and repairs to keep RAC members moving.
• Handle fault diagnostics, tyre and battery issues as they arise on roadside calls.
• Manage your own toolkit, keep your van stocked, and complete reports with precision.
• Read situations to determine fixes and support each member on call-outs.

Skills

Vehicle Technician experience (5+ yrs)

Full UK driving licence (≤6 points)

Education
