Job summary

RAC is seeking a proactive Roadside Mechanic to diagnose faults, fix tyres and batteries, and support RAC members on the road. You’ll manage your own toolkit, keep the van stocked, and complete precise reports. Duties vary by call and location, with a focus on rapid, reliable service.

The role offers a structured development pathway, access to diagnostic tools and a company van, with shifts that include early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. A UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Provide roadside diagnostics, fault finding, tyre and battery services as required.
• Read situations, choose fixes, and support RAC members on call-outs.
• Manage personal toolkit, van stock, and reports with precision.
