Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer to protect customers, staff and stock in a busy UK store. You will be a visible deterrent, provide customer service and respond to incidents within the retail environment.

The role requires a valid SIA Licence, DBS and BS7858 clearance, and the right to work in the UK, with flexibility to work weekends and evenings. You will work with store management to maintain safety and security.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK and ability to undergo DBS and BS7858 clearance.
• Valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding) and relevant security experience.
• Strong observational skills to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for reporting and interactions.
• Flexible to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence, deterring theft and anti-social behaviour
• Patrol the store and monitor CCTV for suspicious activity
• Respond to alarms and incidents, escalating where required
• Conduct searches in line with company procedures when necessary
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports
• Work closely with store management and staff on security matters
• Provide a professional and approachable presence
• Assist customers and staff with queries
• De-escalate challenging situations calmly
• Follow all site procedures, company policies and legal requirements
• Support the wider team and undertake additional duties as required
