Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer to protect customers, staff and stock in a busy retail environment. You will deter theft, patrol the store and respond to incidents while delivering excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid SIA licence with security experience, be able to work flexible shifts including weekends and evenings, and undergo DBS/BS7858 clearance as required.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK with DBS and BS7858 clearance.
• Valid SIA Licence (DS or Security Guarding) with relevant security experience.
• Strong observational skills to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Calm, professional handling of difficult situations and clear reporting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence, deterring theft and anti-social behaviour.
• Patrol the store and monitor CCTV for suspicious activity.
• Respond to alarms and incidents, escalating where required.
• Conduct searches in line with company procedures when necessary.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Work closely with store management and staff on security matters.
• Provide a professional and approachable presence.
• Assist customers and staff with queries.
• De-escalate challenging situations calmly.
• Follow all site procedures, company policies and legal requirements.
• Support the wider team and undertake additional duties as required.
