Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer to safeguard customers, staff and stock in a busy retail setting. You will deter theft, patrol the store, monitor CCTV, and respond to incidents while delivering excellent service.

Ideal candidates hold a valid SIA license and demonstrate strong observation, communication skills, and professional handling of challenging situations. Flexible shifts, including weekends, are available.

Qualifications

• Valid SIA License – DS or Security Guarding.
• Strong observational skills to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Proven ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
• Excellent verbal and written reporting and communication.
• Proactive, professional approach to safety and security.
• Flexibility to work weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visible security presence to deter theft and anti-social behaviour.
• Conduct regular patrols of store premises ensuring safety.
• Monitor CCTV and security systems to identify suspicious activity.
• Carry out searches in accordance with policy when required.
• Respond to alarms and incidents promptly and escalate as needed.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Liaise with store management to address security concerns.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers as needed.
• De-escalate confrontations calmly and professionally.
• Support wider security team with additional duties.
