Job summary

Job description

The Retail Assistant plays a key role in supporting the efficient, customer-focused and profitable operation of the Assisi Charity Shop. Under the guidance of the Shop Manager, the post holder will contribute to generating income that directly supports the care and rehoming of animals across Northern Ireland. The role requires excellent customer service, strong communication skills, and a positive, flexible approach. The Retail Assistant will help deliver a welcoming retail environment, maintain high standards of presentation, support volunteers, and uphold Assisi’s Mission, Vision, Values and Core Principles.

Responsibilities

• Support stock generation, pricing and merchandising
• Assist with Gift Aid promotion
• Help lead and support volunteers
• Carry out cash-handling, banking and shop administration
• Ensure a safe, clean and welcoming shop environment
• Act as keyholder, opening/closing the shop as required

Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ cash handling experience
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service
• A genuine commitment to animal welfare
