Job description

Restaurant Manager — MA/NA (Opening January 2026)

Location: 30 Upper Grosvenor Street, Mayfair

About MA/NA

Opening in January 2026 on Upper Grosvenor Street, MA/NA is born from the Japanese philosophy that every ingredient carries an invisible power — a life‑force shaped by nature and the hands that honour it.

‘Mana’ is the spiritual energy that exists beneath the surface of all things. It is felt rather than seen — transforming emotion into experience, and a meal into memory.

Guided by this belief, MA/NA offers a seamless blend of restaurant and bar — refined Japanese dishes alongside an exceptional cocktail, wine and sake list. Here, cocktails flow effortlessly into dinner, and dinner naturally returns to drinks.

Every element — from design and service to sound and light — is intentional. Each detail celebrates the extraordinary within the simple.

The Role — Restaurant Manager

As Restaurant Manager at MA/NA, you will lead the front‑of‑house team in delivering an experience defined by harmony, precision, and warmth.

You will oversee the daily rhythm of service, ensuring that every guest journey — from arrival to farewell — flows effortlessly. Working closely with the kitchen, bar, and sommelier teams, you’ll cultivate a sense of unity and purpose across all aspects of the restaurant.

Your leadership will embody grace and emotional intelligence — creating a culture where the team is inspired to perform with calm confidence and genuine hospitality.

This is a role for a hospitality professional who understands that exceptional service is not only seen, but felt — transforming every detail into a lasting impression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the front‑of‑house team to deliver seamless, intuitive, and emotionally engaging service
  • Oversee daily operations, floor management, and guest experience from pre‑service to close
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef, Head Sommelier, and Bar Manager to ensure cohesion between food, beverage, and service
  • Recruit, train, and mentor the team to uphold MA/NA’s service philosophy and standards
  • Manage reservations, guest flow, and communication with precision and sensitivity
  • Monitor performance, feedback, and financial targets to ensure excellence and efficiency
  • Uphold the highest standards of presentation, cleanliness, and professionalism throughout the restaurant
  • Represent MA/NA at events, tastings, and industry collaborations
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or Assistant Manager in a fine dining or high‑end environment
  • Deep understanding of guest experience, hospitality standards, and service operations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
  • A passion for Japanese culture, cuisine, and craftsmanship
  • Organised, detail‑oriented, and calm under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and storytelling abilities
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to work seamlessly across departments
  • A desire to help shape one of London’s most exciting new openings
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and service charge package
  • Opportunity to lead the front‑of‑house experience for a flagship opening within the Thesleff Group
  • Collaboration with world‑class chefs, sommeliers, and bar professionals
  • Continued training, development, and career progression
  • Staff meals, wellness initiatives, and a supportive, creative working environment
