Job summary

Aspire People has partnered with a specialist SEN school in Coalville to recruit a Challenging Behaviour Teaching Assistant. You will join a team dedicated to helping pupils manage behaviour, stay engaged with learning and build positive relationships in a supportive setting.

The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support, assisting pupils with challenging behaviours and SEMH needs, and developing coping strategies and emotional regulation within a safe, calm classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour is essential.
  • Experience within SEN, SEMH, Alternative Provision, schools, youth work or similar settings would be highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Supporting pupils who display challenging or complex behaviours.
  • Helping children develop positive coping and behavioural strategies.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Using positive reinforcement and consistent boundaries.
  • Supporting pupils to engage with learning.
  • Helping to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and professionally.
  • Encouraging independence and positive decision-making.
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team.
  • Creating a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
