Aspire People is seeking a compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11 to 16 in a specialist Birmingham setting. You will work closely with teachers to provide focused, individualised support and help create an inclusive, caring classroom environment.

This role emphasises behaviour support, social skills development and emotional regulation, with a strong commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of vulnerable learners.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ASD or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, empathetic and patient approach to supporting challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive and flexible mindset to support vulnerable learners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with SEMH and ASD in class and targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to create a positive learning environment.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support development of social skills, confidence, and independence.
