Job summary

Aspire People are seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs in educational settings. The role emphasizes building positive relationships and applying individual strategies to engage learners.

Ideal candidates will have strong 1:1 experience within schools or similar settings, with the ability to calmly manage challenging behaviour and support emotional regulation under the guidance of teachers and SENCOs.

Qualifications

• Professional experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Previous 1:1 experience is essential.
• Experience within a school, PRU, alternative provision, residential or similar setting.
• Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent way.
• Strong understanding of boundaries and positive behaviour strategies.
• Resilient, patient and emotionally intelligent approach.
• Able to build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour.
• Building positive and trusting relationships.
• Helping pupils re-engage with education and learning.
• Implementing individual behaviour and support strategies.
• Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions and unstructured periods.
• Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams and SENCOs.
• Promoting positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
