Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a resilient Behaviour Intervention Teaching Assistant for a Specialist SEMH school in Burnley. You will support secondary pupils with SEMH, ADHD, autism, and complex behavioural needs, delivering targeted 1:1 interventions and mentoring.

You will work closely with teachers to recognise dysregulation early, use de-escalation techniques, and help pupils reflect after incidents to return to learning.

Qualifications

• Experience in behaviour support.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Experience with SEMH needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted 1:1 behaviour interventions and mentoring.
• Recognise early signs of dysregulation and intervene appropriately.
• Use established de-escalation and behaviour management techniques.
• Help pupils identify triggers and develop positive coping strategies.
• Maintain consistent expectations and clear boundaries.
• Support pupils to reflect following incidents and successfully return to learning.
• Build strong relationships that encourage trust, confidence, and accountability.
