The Council’s Refugee & Asylum Seeker (RAS) team oversees refugee resettlement schemes in the borough, including the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, Afghan Resettlement Schemes, and Asylum Seeker Dispersal. The team supports refugee integration, aligns with the Council of Sanctuary accreditation, and aims to assist households and individuals to achieve positive outcomes and prevent homelessness.
The Resettlement Support Officer will develop individual support plans for each household or family, providing advice, support, and signposting for resettled refugees and asylum seekers with complex needs. The role involves helping them adjust to life in the UK, ensuring access to existing services and mainstream provisions, and promoting community links and integration. Working within a multi-agency framework, you will communicate effectively with colleagues, professionals, and clients to ensure coordinated support. You should have strong communication skills and a good understanding of immigration issues. Experience in delivering housing advice and support to vulnerable people is essential.
Preferred experience includes supporting and assessing vulnerable individuals and working with asylum seekers and refugees.
