If you want to join this innovative and exciting speciality, then we are offering a unique opportunity to work as a Clinical Research delivery Nurse/Practitioner in the Synergy Team within the Research and Development Department, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.

The Synergy Team coordinates studies in a large variety of specialities including Maternity, Diabetes, Hepatology, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics and Orthopaedics. We recruit patients from both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role involves day-to-day care of participants on clinical studies including screening, recruitment, and follow-up.

Our staff come from a variety of specialities and backgrounds to create a multidisciplinary research team working together to deliver research across Plymouth.

Main duties of the job

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as \"Priority\" and \"At Risk\" status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

  1. The post holder will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the clinical requirements associated with research to ensure optimum delivery of clinical trials.
  2. S/he will ensure that all research procedures are conducted according to study protocols and will be accountable for the recruitment, data collection and care of research participants with a focus on providing a quality experience.
  3. Lead and contribute to site-level delivery of research activities within the Trust, ensuring alignment with regional and national guidelines.
  4. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support study delivery and participant care.
  5. Monitor study timelines and performance, escalating issues as needed to maintain progress.
  6. Ensure compliance with research governance, GCP, and SOPs across all studies.
  7. Provide supervision and mentorship to staff and students as appropriate.
  8. Promote a safe working environment, including health, safety and security considerations for the research team.
  9. Contribute to the development and implementation of research policies, procedures and SOPs.
  10. Facilitate effective communication within the research team and with the wider multidisciplinary clinical team.
  11. Support education and training regarding research for the broader multidisciplinary team and act as an ambassador for research.
  12. Support appropriate studies within PHNT/UHP and its partner organisations as appropriate.

  8. Facilitate and maintain effective communication within the research team and between the multidisciplinary clinical team.
  9. Assist in the delivery of education and training regarding research for the wider Multidisciplinary Team and act as an ambassador for research.
  10. Promote a blame free culture in reporting incidents and where appropriate support local investigation of incidents.
  11. Support appropriate studies within PHNT/UHP and its partner organisations as appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse or Healthcare Professional, currently registered with UK regulatory body NMC/HPC
  • Research Training (e.g. GCP, degree module, informed consent)
Knowledge & Experience
  • Pertinent clinical skills
  • Computer literacy including ability to work with databases.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and work to tight deadlines.
  • Proven knowledge of the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Proven knowledge of clinical trials & research methodologies.
