About the role

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of energy in the UK. The electricity we provide gets the nation to work, powers schools and brings energy to life. Our energy network connects the nation, so it's essential that it's continually evolving, advancing, and improving.

Are you ready to make a difference in the energy sector? We are looking for a talented Reporting Analyst to support our Portfolio Deliverability team within the Network Operations and Intelligence department at NGET. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a relatively new and ambitious team dedicated to providing valuable insights and facilitating effective collaboration across various departments. Your insights will provide essential support and assurance to National Grid staff and leadership regarding core business processes.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and maintain high-quality insights that inform strategic decision‑making, working with stakeholders across the business.
• Support the integration of data across systems and champion the use of a common data language to uncover relationships between projects, outages, and other constraints.
• Provide a holistic view of NGET’s performance against commitments, plan changes, risks, and more, while enhancing our forecasting abilities and leveraging AI in our processes.

Key Accountabilities:

• Produce reports that meet high standards in visualisation and portfolio insights.
• Identify indicators of portfolio underperformance and establish reporting requirements for various stakeholders to enable actionable insights.
• Foster cross‑departmental collaboration on KPI and data sharing to drive business improvements and enhance risk identification.
• Assist in the rollout of a common data language, working closely with the digital team to integrate data across systems.
• Collaborate with Portfolio Risk Officers to communicate portfolio risks and outcomes through internal and external insights.

This role is based in our offices in Warwick for one day per week, and this can be combined with hybrid working from home.

What you’ll need

To thrive in this role, you should be an expert in Excel, VBA, and Power BI, demonstrating a strong capability to report on various aspects of the end‑to‑end planning process. While familiarity with SQL or other data query languages is beneficial, it is not essential.

In addition, you will possess:

• A solid grounding in data architecture principles, including data modelling and master data governance, ensuring the integrity and usability of data across the organisation.
• Familiarity with relational data structures and experience in integrating data across enterprise platforms, enabling seamless data flow and accessibility.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse teams towards common goals, fostering collaboration and driving results.
• Experience in regulated industries (e.g., utilities, infrastructure, energy) is highly desirable, providing you with valuable insights into industry standards and practices.
• An understanding of how the NGET business operates and its challenges, which will enable you to contribute meaningfully to our objectives and initiatives.
