Job summary

Mears Group PLC in Thurrock is seeking a proactive Planner to join our repairs team. You’ll schedule operatives and subcontractors, allocate jobs, and monitor progress to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes for residents.

The role requires strong IT skills, excellent time management, and a customer-first approach. You will work with administrators, supervisors and contractors, support reporting and continuous service improvements, and uphold health and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have GCSE English & Maths.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use job management/scheduling systems.
  • Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills.
  • Customer-first approach and ability to handle challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of repairs and maintenance processes.
  • Experience scheduling and planning multi-trade repairs using an ICT appointing tool.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule operatives and subcontractors to optimise resource use and deliver repairs on time.
  • Monitor and update repair jobs daily, including appointments and follow-on works.
  • Ensure operatives update PDAs and that schedule of rates are entered correctly.
  • Communicate clearly with residents, operatives and stakeholders to keep everyone informed.
  • Collaborate with administrators, supervisors and contractors for a seamless service.
  • Cover for other planners when needed; attend meetings and training as required.
  • Adhere to company policies and Health & Safety requirements at all times.
  • Assist with reporting and KPI tracking to meet targets.
  • Prioritise emergency/urgent jobs to minimise disruption for residents.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and compliance.
  • Suggest improvements to planning and scheduling processes.
  • Provide general administrative support to the repairs team.
