Job summary

Balfour Beatty in the UK rail sector is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage costs on civil engineering projects. You will support senior commercial staff, procure and manage supply chain, and strive to maximise value for money while meeting quality standards.

You will forecast costs monthly, handle purchase orders, payments, and liaise with client surveyors. The role includes developing trainees and pursuing professional membership with RICS, ICES or CIOB.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
• Rail or civil engineering industry experience preferred
• NEC contracts knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage subcontract packages from order to valuations and variations
• Provide monthly detailed cost forecasts for project input
• Handle purchase orders, payments and liaison with client surveyor team
• Develop trainee and apprentice Quantity Surveyors
• Measure, value and prepare Bills of Quantities from drawings
