Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the Lower Thames Crossing project, a major UK infrastructure scheme. You’ll contribute to cost, value and commercial information across the project lifecycle, collaborating with project teams and supply chain partners.

The role focuses on cost engineering, estimating, planning and procurement, with opportunities to develop professionally toward RICS/ICES/CIOB membership and long-term career progression.

Qualifications

• Essential: BSc in Quantity Surveying or MSc in Quantity Surveying.
• Strong numerical and cost control skills are required.
• Good communication and teamwork are essential for project collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Cost Engineering: gather data and research current construction costs.
• Estimating: assemble pre and post-contract documentation and administer processes.
• Planning: manage weekly and monthly works programmes and formats.
• Project Management: use ERP system and collate cost and value information.
• Procurement: specify procurement requirements and document information.
• Commercial Management: measure works and manage subcontractor cost/value information.
• Development, Recruitment and Retention: maintain a Personal Development Plan and pursue professional membership.
