Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Birmingham team. You will take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of civil engineering projects across the East and West Midlands, driving financial performance and value delivery.

You will lead and mentor QSs and junior staff, develop commercial strategies, and ensure robust cost control and reporting. This role requires strong contract knowledge, stakeholder management and a proactive, results-driven

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering and a track record leading commercial delivery.
• Strong knowledge of construction law and contract administration (NEC/ECC).
• Expertise in cost control, forecasting, procurement and subcontract management.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of civil engineering projects across the East and West Midlands.
• Lead, mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors and junior team members.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximise profitability and margins.
• Produce cost forecasts, cost-to-complete assessments and monthly reports.
• Manage contract administration and change control via CEMAR.
