Job Description:

We are currently offering an excellent opportunity for a Remote Operating System Operative to join our team in Stanford-Le-Hope. The goal of the position is to operate Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) via remote control consoles, supported by cameras and video equipment. The aim is to maintain efficient operation of the ASCs to meet customer service KPIs while adhering to company standards, policies, and procedures.

This role involves a 12-hour day and night shift, on a 4 on 4 off pattern, covering both weekdays and weekends.

About The Role

How will you contribute:

  • Remotely operate ASCs from an office, especially when automated mode is unavailable, including:
  • Loading and unloading containers on trucks and terminal chassis in landside zones.
  • Driving to or from maintenance positions.
  • Performing picking and grounding operations remotely.
  • Checking container stack heights and IDs.
  • Remotely operating ASCs during final container landing phases when necessary.
  • Monitoring ship-side and land-side operations using Terminal Operating Systems.
  • Collaborating with operational staff to meet port requirements.
  • Communicating via voice radio, answering calls, and resolving issues promptly.
  • Being flexible in control room duties.
  • Understanding company operating procedures for Control and Terminal.

What will you bring

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum GCSE Maths & English Grade C or equivalent.
  • Tertiary education or military training is advantageous.
  • Experience in similar roles or operating an RC desk preferred.
  • Experience in operational, industrial, or port-related roles.
  • Experience dealing with external customers, face-to-face or over the phone.
  • Good IT skills, familiar with Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; radio experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn and develop.
  • High concentration levels at all times.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when needed.
