Job summary

Salvation Army Homes in Guildford is seeking a Relief Support Worker to empower vulnerable women to achieve positive outcomes within our supported housing service. You will provide cover for essential duties and support residents under a trauma-informed approach.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will help deliver safe accommodation, promote independence, and maintain accurate records. Weekend shifts, 8:00–16:00 or 15:00–23:00 with occasional sleep-ins, form part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide relief cover across the rota to ensure essential duties are carried out effectively.
  • Ensure safety and wellbeing of residents by responding to emergencies and contacting emergency services when required.
  • Encourage and support residents to engage in activities that develop their skills, strengths and independence.
  • Engage residents in understanding the service and their responsibilities under their Licence Agreement and Good Neighbour Agreement.
  • Respond promptly to reports of repairs and maintenance within the accommodation, following appropriate procedures.
  • Maintain safeguarding, health and safety policies and report concerns in line with local requirements and keep records.
  • Maintain accurate client records, reports, and outcome measurements in accordance with Salvation Army Homes' systems.

We are looking for a Relief Support Worker to empower vulnerable women to achieve positive outcomes.

As a Relief Support Worker, you will provide cover for essential duties within our supported housing service in Guildford. Reporting to the Service Manager or Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in delivering safe, supported accommodation to clients with a range of needs, using a trauma-informed approach.

This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a wider team dedicated to providing safe homes, supporting recovery, and transforming lives.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide relief cover across the rota to ensure essential duties are carried out effectively.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents by responding to emergency situations and contacting the appropriate emergency services when required.
  • Encourage and support residents to engage in a range of activities that enable their skills, strengths, and independence to be developed and recognised.
  • Actively engage residents in understanding the service and their responsibilities under their Licence Agreement and Good Neighbour Agreement.
  • Respond promptly to reports of property repairs and maintenance issues within the accommodation, following appropriate procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of and comply with Salvation Army Homes' safeguarding, health and safety policies and procedures, reporting and addressing concerns in line with local requirements.
  • Maintain accurate client records, reports, and outcome measurements in accordance with Salvation Army Homes' systems and record-keeping requirements.

Working Arrangements

Shifts will mainly be at weekends and will typically be either 8:00am to 4:00pm or 3:00pm to 11:00pm, with occasional sleep-in shifts until 8:00am the following morning.
