Job summary

Wellspring Academy Trust invites applications for a relief assistant caretaker to help keep our school environment clean, safe and welcoming for pupils and staff.

The role is a casual, zero-hours contract with flexible hours; no prior experience or formal qualifications are required as full training is provided from day one, and you will work under the Estates Manager or Head of School. Interviews will be held virtually.

Qualifications

• Reliable and hardworking; maintains a safe, clean environment.
• Practical/physical work including basic maintenance and repairs.
• Flexible to be called for relief shift work; able to be a key holder.
• Follows health & safety guidelines and safeguarding policies.

Responsibilities

• Taking responsibility for cleaning specified areas, following the Trust's standards and methods.
• Carrying out caretaking duties as directed by the Estates Manager or Head of School, including minor DIY repairs to the building fabric or equipment.
• Safely storing all cleaning equipment and materials in designated areas after use.
• Proactively reporting any equipment faults, issues, or material shortages directly to your immediate supervisor.
• Participating in required staff training to ensure all health and safety, COSHH, and safeguarding standards are strictly met and maintained.
