Holmefield is a friendly long established 100% small animal practice with an experienced and long-standing team. Holmefield Vets has its main site in the beautiful village of Brayton with a smaller branch practice in the picturesque Sherburn-in-Elmet. We are situated in a beautiful semi-rural location in North Yorkshire, whilst still being well connected to city life. There are regular direct trains from Selby to London, Manchester and Leeds and there is also a train station in Sherburn-in-Elmet. We are just a 20-minute drive from York, and Leeds and Hull are within striking distance too.
At the main site we have access to modern, reliable, and well-maintained equipment including digital x-ray, a brand-new ultrasound suitable for both abdominal and cardiac scans, K-laser, multiparameter monitoring machine and doppler blood pressure. We have separate species wards and are proud to be a cat friendly clinic. We also have a separate bereavement room to ensure a pet’s final visit is as peaceful as possible. The practice was refurbished recently and is beautifully light and airy with a huge staff room and separate vet office for case research and phone calls. At the branch practice we undertake consults and routine surgery, and staff enjoy working at this smaller practice from time to time and building close relationships with the clients. Patient safety is a priority, and all brachycephalic breeds or higher risk patients undergo anaesthetics and surgeries at the main hospital to ensure sufficient staffing levels during the post-operative period.
There is no doubt that our biggest strength is our incredible team. You will be joining an experienced, talented and friendly team who pride themselves on having a positive and inclusive culture. Communication is prioritised here, with regular team meetings, full practice meetings and opportunities to discuss cases to ensure everyone feels included, empowered, and heard. We have a vet working towards her certificate in Feline medicine, and a nurse who has completed a behaviour qualification. We have a vet who is an advanced practitioner in small animal surgery. We also have a receptionist who has completed bereavement training and offers support to clients who are saying goodbye to their pets.
We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:
