Job description
Join a Team Where Your Skills Truly Matter

Riverside Veterinary Centre in Belper, Derbyshire is seeking a qualified and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and forward‑thinking team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive, close‑knit practice that genuinely values teamwork, wellbeing and professional growth.

Role Details

As an RVN at Riverside Vets, you’ll be encouraged to make full use of your nursing skills. Your day‑to‑day duties will include anaesthesia monitoring, patient care, laboratory work, imaging, and nurse clinics. You may occasionally assist on reception, but the focus of your role will always be on nursing and delivering the highest standard of care.

Our diary is designed to ensure realistic caseloads and smooth workflows, with time built in for same‑day emergencies and patient continuity.

Work Schedule

This is a full‑time position working 40 hours per week across 4 days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday). Shifts will vary between 8am‑5pm or 10am‑7pm depending on the rota, plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (8am‑1pm).

Our emergency care is handled by Vets Now, although you may occasionally be required to stay late to assist with a later case. On the rare occasion a patient is hospitalised overnight, you may be asked to complete checks.

Part‑time applications will be considered.

About the Practice

Riverside Vets is a well‑established, single‑site small animal practice in Belper, with an exciting future ahead – we’ve just signed the lease on a brand‑new building one mile away in Milford, with plans to move in early 2026. This larger space will allow us to expand our facilities and continue improving the working environment for our team.

Our team includes seven veterinary surgeons, six RVNs, one SVN, three receptionists and a practice manager. We’re proud to offer a genuinely supportive and respectful workplace where everyone looks out for each other. Whether it’s a busy day in clinic or a team meal, night out in Nottingham, or walk with our dogs, you’ll feel part of something special from day one.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with at least 3 years’ post‑qualification experience and confidence across all areas of general nursing. You’ll be a strong communicator who thrives both independently and as part of a team. Above all, you’ll bring compassion, professionalism and a genuine love for supporting patients and clients alike.

A commitment to learning and continuous professional development is actively encouraged and supported.

Why Join Us?

At Riverside, you’ll be joining a team that truly values each member. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment where your wellbeing and career progression are a real priority.
