Registered Nurse - Endoscopy Unit (York)

The Endoscopy Unit at York offers a fast paced working environment within our new purpose built seven roomed endoscopy unit, where we can support you to learn and develop your Endoscopy and Nursing skills.

The department performs upper and lower GI investigations, ERCP, EUS, colon capsule, manometry and physiology investigations, bronchoscopy and EBUS procedures. Procedures are performed both diagnostically and therapeutically.

Alongside this we offer a nurse led pre assessment clinic providing assessment and advice to patients pre procedure.

A full training package will be offered and ongoing support to help career development. The unit has clinical educators to support you along the way.

Once competent you will participate in the out of hours on call rota assisting the consultant on call with urgent GI bleeds.

Working hours are currently under review. Current working hours are 8am- 8pm with weekend acute lists.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept
  • Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
  • Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
  • Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
