Registered Nurse (post-registration experience desirable)
Job description
Overview

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Nurses with a passion for Emergency Nursing to join our friendly and supportive Emergency Department team.

While previous post-registration experience in an acute care setting is desirable, it is not essential. We welcome applications from newly qualified nurses or those who have gained experience in acute care either prior to or during training, and who are keen to develop their career within Emergency Nursing. Resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care are key qualities we are looking for.

Exciting developments are taking place within the Emergency Department at Newham and across the wider Trust. This includes the expansion of our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) area, where our nurses rotate regularly to broaden their skills and experience.

Newham Emergency Department serves a large and diverse community, seeing an average of 400–500 patients each day. Our team provides care across a wide range of presentations, including acute medical conditions, paediatrics, and patients experiencing a mental health crisis.

If you are passionate about making a difference, eager to learn, and ready to take on the challenges and rewards of emergency nursing, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • The post holder will be a key member of the Emergency Department nursing team, responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute and urgent conditions.
  • Working under the direction of senior nursing staff and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the Band 5 Registered Nurse will provide timely assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care in line with Trust policies and national standards.
  • The role requires effective prioritisation in a fast-paced environment, ensuring patient safety, dignity, and wellbeing at all times.
  • The post holder will contribute to the efficient running of the department, support continuous service improvement, and uphold the values and professional standards of Barts Health NHS Trust.
