Job description
The Team

LGH Transit Lounge is a unit within the Patient Access and Flow department. Operating in a fast‑paced environment, it manages a high volume of patients between 08:30 and 18:00, Monday to Friday. The lounge supports patients who are awaiting discharge, transfer, or admission to an available bed.

Our dedicated nursing team is committed to delivering the highest standard of care.

As a small and collaborative unit, the Transit Lounge offers valuable opportunities for professional growth and development.

The Role

Reports to: Nurse Unit Manager, Transit Lounge

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care in accordance with individual care plans and clinical guidelines.
  • Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, escalating concerns promptly.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Educate patients and families on health management and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with organisational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits aligned with NSQHS standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety, respect, and continuous learning within the unit.

Details of appointment

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 40 hours per fortnight, commencing 18 May 2026 until 28 August 2026.

Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439–$109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

You’ll have access to a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
