Overview
Sanctuary Personnel is recruiting for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse to work in Southampton on a full-time basis. Salary: £34,500-£37,227 per annum. This role is with a hospital focusing on residential treatment for adults with mental health conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provide Individualised Care: deliver care tailored to each patient’s needs and update care plans in collaboration with patients and their families.
- Collaborate with the Care Team: work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Communicate Professionally: build strong relationships with external professionals and stakeholders, and engage effectively with patients.
- Patient Interaction: observe, communicate with, and assess residents or service users to evaluate progress and needs.
- Quality and Governance: participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical governance standards.
- Provide Clear Information: offer accessible and accurate information about care to patients and their families.
- Manage and Delegate Tasks: prioritise and delegate nursing duties within the shift, and act as nurse in charge when required.
- Maintain Records: ensure accurate and timely documentation, including daily notes and incident reports.
- Escalate Concerns: address and report concerns about patient well-being, incidents, or staffing issues promptly.
- Pursue Professional Development: engage in continuous learning to meet revalidation requirements and stay current in practice.
- Support and Mentor Staff: assist new, junior, and agency staff and ensure induction completion.
- Complete Training: fulfil all mandatory training and competency assessments on time.
- Build Relationships: maintain positive interactions with residents, colleagues, and visitors, addressing their needs and concerns.
- Participate in Supervision: engage in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice.
- Safeguarding: be aware of and follow safeguarding policies and attend required training.
- Follow Legislation: ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act, Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
- Adhere to Medicines Policies: follow policies on medicines management.
- Manage Challenging Behaviour: handle challenging behaviour according to policies, support junior staff, and develop de-escalation strategies.
Requirements
- Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse: qualified with 6-12 months post-registration experience, active NMC registration, and completion of preceptorship or equivalent.
- Understanding of NMC Standards: knowledge of NMC standards, guidelines, and professional practices.
- Ongoing Professional Development: evidence of continuing professional development since registration.
- Commitment to Improvement: positive attitude with commitment to change, quality improvement, and excellence in practice.
- Adaptability and Innovation: ability to develop and employ flexible, innovative approaches to clinical practice.
- Communication Skills: excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- IT Proficiency: competency in using IT systems and software.
