What will this role achieve?

The objective of this role is to ensure the legal compliance of all products sold within UK&I market. Collaborating closely with other regions, you will support the export of products manufactured in region, outside of region.

The Regional Regulatory Affairs Lead will provide sound regulatory advice, support the launch & re-launch of products in an efficient manner, ensuring all formulations and product claims meet legal requirements and align with company policies.

You will be required to apply and translate expertise to minimise regulatory and scientific barriers, and maximise opportunities to protect the business and ensure competitiveness within the region, while driving business growth!

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Manage a Regulatory Affairs team supporting all brands in UK&I
  • Accountable for the regulatory compliance of the defined brands in accordance with sales market, including product formulation, pack copy generation and artwork sign off, as well as ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Effectively aligns regulatory resource, collaborating closely with commercial and R&D teams ensuring the timely delivery of key projects, compliance of the innovation pipeline, as well as ensuring existing products in the market continue to follow ongoing changes in legislation.
  • Provide direct support for innovative product claims, ensuring the claims are aligned with relevant market legislation, guidelines and advertising rules
  • Evaluate upcoming laws and regulations to identify potential threats or opportunities.
  • Communicate regulatory emerging issues internally to regional teams and cross-functional partners and present proposed solutions / mitigation plans.
  • Manage & develop team members to deliver the business plan. Motivate team, develop skills and careers through effective implementation of performance plans and talent mapping of high potential team members.
  • Represent the company at external meetings, conferences, trade organisations as appropriate.

What do you need for this role?

  • At least 7 years’ experience of working in a regulatory specialist role in the food industry with a min of 3 year in leadership position
  • Proven track record interpreting claims regulations globally.
  • Proven Track record of time management and ability to prioritise workload & deliver on time.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and deliver under pressure
  • BSc / MSc Degree in Food Legislation, Regulatory Affairs / Law or other Food Science based subject.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively across all levels and functions
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Organisational and planning skills with focus on maintaining high standards
  • Time management and ability to prioritise workload
