Job summary

Long Term Futures is looking for a patient and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in West Bromwich. You will support Reception and EYFS pupils with additional needs, helping them settle into routines, build confidence and develop independence.

The role focuses on children with autism (ASC), SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties and behavioural challenges, using 1:1 and small-group support to foster inclusion.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 qualification in Early Years or STALS.
• Experience supporting SEND pupils in EYFS or primary education.
• Good understanding of autism, SEMH and behaviour management.
• Speech and language support experience is highly desirable.
• A patient, proactive and nurturing approach.

Responsibilities

• Support Reception children with additional needs through 1:1 and small-group activities.
• Help pupils settle into school routines and develop independence.
• Encourage speech, language and communication development.
• Use positive behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support.
• Create a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
