Job summary

The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel & Spa in Windsor is seeking a personable Reception Porter to join the Front Office Team. This full-time role (40 hours per week) covers greeting guests, assisting with luggage, and guiding them to rooms, with shifts across seven days including bank holidays and weekends.

You will be the first and last point of contact for guests, delivering friendly service, answering questions, and helping maintain a smooth stay.

Qualifications

  • A good command of written and spoken English.
  • The physical ability to carry/move heavy luggage and goods up and down stairs.
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role, ideally in hospitality.
  • A positive attitude and be a friendly individual and team player.
  • The ability to think on your feet and meet guests’ expectations in a timely manner.
  • The flexibility in working hours; shifts typically 7am–10:45pm, with some nights.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming guests to the hotel and helping residents with their luggage and showing guests to their rooms.
  • Providing information and directions about the hotel and surrounding areas.
  • Delivering Room Service orders around the hotel to guest rooms.
  • Selective duties such as cash handling, problem solving and complaint handling
  • Working with other team members and managers to ensure a consistently smooth service and high team morale.

Located right on the river edge in the centre of Royal Windsor, Sir Christopher Wren Hotel & Spa is a popular four star hotel in an unbeatable setting. Comprised of several characterful buildings clustered around a historic cobbled street by Eton Bridge, the hotel offers a collection of individually styled bedrooms, a modern conference centre, The Brasserie restaurant and bar, and the Wren’s Club spa and fitness centre. The perfect riverside location is just steps from Windsor Castle, and is popular for tourists as well as visitors for meetings and events.

We are seeking a charismatic individual with excellent customer service skills to join our Front Office Team as Reception Porter. This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week, any five days out of seven, including bank holidays and weekends.

Our Front Office team and reception porters are the first and last personal contact most guests have with the hotel and are key to ensuring their stay gets off to a great start and finishes smoothly. Reception Porters are responsible for assisting guests with their arrival and departure from the hotel including showing guests to rooms and carrying luggage.

As a Reception Porter you will have...
  • A good command of written and spoken English
  • The physical ability to carry/move heavy luggage and goods up and down stairs as the hotel does not have a lift in some of the buildings.
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role, ideally in hospitality.
  • A positive attitude and be a friendly individual and team player who would like to join a likeminded team
  • The ability to think on your feet and meet guests’ expectations in a timely manner.
  • The flexibility I working hours. Shifts times usually vary anytime between 7am - 10:45pm over an 8-hour shift. On occasion there may be the requirement to work nights.

Please note: there is no staff car parking on site at the hotel, but plenty of secure space to store bicycles and with great access to local bus and train services
