What you’ll be doing

It is important for us to ensure the land we own is managed responsibly, sustainably restored and maintained for the benefit of our business, local people, biodiversity and the communities in which we operate in. Working as a graduate in our Land and Natural Resources team will see you playing a key role in the future sustainability of our business.

Your role will involve

  • Working within planning consents for mineral extraction and associated operations.
  • Liaising with a range of stakeholders to support the achievement of land disposal targets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Reviewing the land development portfolio and working closely with Development Managers to identify and secure planning schemes that enhance value.
  • Supporting initiatives to enhance rental income and unlock development opportunities.
  • Ensuring compliance with planning permissions, lease agreements, and tenure arrangements.
  • Building a strong understanding of property ownership, landlord-tenant dynamics, and planning policy frameworks.
  • Coordinating and reviewing planning applications, including interpreting specialist consultant reports.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders such as local communities, statutory bodies, landlords, and planning authorities.
  • Managing relationships with landlords and tenants to maintain positive and productive partnerships.
  • Preparing and reviewing planning documentation, consultant reports, and written communications.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial performance across the property portfolio.
  • Supporting the development and use of Tarmac’s Electronic Property Information System.

This structured rotation is designed to give you a well‑rounded and practical foundation, helping you build the skills, insight, and confidence needed to launch a successful career in surveying. You’ll also receive dedicated support as you work towards your RICSAPC accreditation, guided by our Tarmac‑led APC Forum.

During the two‑year graduate role, you will have the opportunity to rotate around the different charters within L&NR to ensure you build a broad experience across the disciplines. This will include placements in Asset Management, Strategic Planning and Land Development.
