Job summary

Perfect Placement UK Ltd on behalf of our client is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their established operations in Huncote, Leicestershire. You will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults across HGVs, trailers, and plant machinery, with on-call breakdown support.

The role offers up to £23.00 per hour depending on experience, 47.5 hours per week, and opportunities for career development, training, and a pension. Uniform provided and on-site parking available.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years' practical experience as an HGV and/or Plant Mechanic
• Experience working with multiple vehicle brands
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
• Desirable: 6+ years' experience, welding and fabrication skills, knowledge of hydraulic or LOLE R regulations, experience with hooklift or RORO equipment

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults across HGVs, trailers, and plant equipment
• Conduct 6-weekly inspections and servicing of vehicles and trailers
• Perform preventative maintenance and MOT preparation as a HGV Technician
• Service and repair telehandlers, loading shovels, diggers, and other plant machinery
• Attend breakdowns, including roadside and customer site diagnostics as part of an on-call rota
• Replace components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, AdBlue systems, ABS, and electrical systems
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and time spent
• Communicate effectively regarding repairs, parts requirements, and estimated completion times
• Follow all health and safety procedures at all times

• - IRTEC certification would be advantageous
• - Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
• - Excellent attention to detail and a reliable work ethic
• - Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• - Desirable: 6+ years' experience, welding and fabrication skills, knowledge of hydraulic or LOLE R regulations, experience with hooklift or RORO equipment
