Perfect Placement is seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our established team in Huncote, Leicestershire. The role requires extensive mechanical and electrical diagnostic experience and offers work across a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years' practical experience as an HGV and/or plant mechanic.
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
• Experience working on multi-brand vehicles.
• Desirable welding, fabrication, hydraulic systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults on HGVs, trailers, and plant machinery.
• Servicing and preventative maintenance, including six-weekly inspections.
• Conducting MOT preparation and repairs.
• Repairing telehandlers, loading shovels, excavators, and access platform cherry pickers.
• Attending breakdowns and performing roadside diagnostics on a rota basis.
• Maintaining accurate records of work, parts used, and time allocated.
• Communicating effectively with colleagues and clients regarding repairs, parts, and timings.

Duties of a HGV Technician

• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults on HGVs, trailers, and plant machinery

Requirements of a HGV Technician

• IRTEC certification (desirable but not essential)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable with a professional work ethic
• Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to learn new skills and develop professionally
• Desirable qualifications include welding, fabrication, hydraulic systems knowledge, and experience with hydraulic or RORO equipment
