Job summary

Interaction Recruitment are seeking an experienced Light Vehicle Technician for a role in Peterborough. The position involves servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, light vehicles and trailers, with a focus on diagnostics and fault-finding.

You will join a busy workshop, working Monday to Friday 08:30-17:00, with the potential to progress and gain additional qualifications. A competitive salary and benefits are offered, with opportunities for overtime.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in motor vehicle maintenance.
• Recent experience in the motor trade in a similar role (last 2 years).
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs to HGVs, light vehicles and trailers.
• Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults.

Salary: £32,000-£42,000 depending on experience, plus company Bonus Scheme

The Role

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, you will take ownership of your workload and be confident working independently on a wide range of customer vehicles and trailers. Previous diagnostic and fault-finding experience would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs to HGVs, light vehicles and trailers
• Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults
• MOT preparation work
• Attending roadside breakdowns and disabled vehicles when required
• Liaising with the parts department to source required components
• Completing job cards and service documentation accurately and on time
• Maintaining workshop cleanliness and safe working practices
• Following all customer site procedures and health & safety regulations
• Keeping up to date with product knowledge and attending training courses

The Ideal Candidate

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds qualified Technician or equivalent industry experience
• Recent experience within the motor trade in a similar role (within the last 2 years)
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills
• Full UK Driving Licence
• HGV Licence beneficial but not essential
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Flexible and proactive approach to work
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures
• Own tools are essential
