Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Rail Systems Lead Design Manager to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project during the initial design phase. The role coordinates interfaces across track systems, alliance partners and main works contractors to ensure integrated design delivery and risk-managed progress.

You will lead spatial coordination, drive design governance, and champion health and safety in design across multidisciplinary teams to meet client requirements and milestones.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in rail systems design, integration and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience in contractor-led, design‑and‑build or alliance delivery environments.
• Experience managing external design organisations and consultant teams.
• Strong understanding of design management processes within major rail or infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical interfaces between Track systems and partners.
• Lead spatial coordination of rail systems designs from design partners and alliance members.
• Manage design clashes, interfaces and spatial conflicts to support delivery.
• Chair design coordination meetings and reviews with stakeholders.
• Monitor design progress and ensure delivery aligns with client requirements and milestones.
• Coordinate and promote Health and Safety in Design principles.
