Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Rail Systems Lead Design Manager for the HS2 Track infrastructure project. You will manage systems integration, design coordination, and multidisciplinary interfaces to keep the program on track and within budget.

Based in London Euston or Birmingham Snow Hill, you will lead design partners, advise on safety and assurance, and chair coordination meetings. The role demands Chartered Engineer status and extensive rail systems experience.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in rail systems design, integration, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience in contractor-led, design-and-build or alliance delivery environments.
• Experience working on large-scale rail infrastructure programmes.
• Experience managing external design organisations and consultant teams.
• Knowledge of design management, systems engineering, and safety assurance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical interfaces between Track systems, Main Works Contractors, Design Partners and Alliance members.
• Lead spatial coordination of rail systems designs and manage design clashes.
• Coordinate technical assurance activities and ensure designs are reviewed and validated.
• Promote Health and Safety in Design and manage CDM processes.
• Chair design coordination meetings and report progress to Client requirements.
