Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Rail Systems Lead Design Manager for HS2 track infrastructure, based in London or Birmingham. You will coordinate interfaces across track systems, design partners and alliance members, and lead spatial coordination and design assurance activities to meet client requirements and milestones.

Ideal candidates bring extensive rail systems experience, strong leadership, stakeholder management and a Chartered Engineer status (or working toward it), with a track record

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in rail systems design, integration and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience working within contractor-led, design and build or alliance delivery environments is preferred.
• Experience managing design interfaces and spatial coordination in complex environments.
• Strong understanding of design management processes within major rail or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of technical assurance, systems engineering and safety assurance principles.
• Understanding of Health and Safety in Design requirements and industry best practice.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical interfaces between Track systems, Main Works Contractors, Design Partners and Alliance members.
• Lead and manage spatial coordination of rail systems designs produced by design partners and alliance members.
• Chair and facilitate design coordination meetings, workshops and reviews with stakeholders.
• Monitor and report design progress ensuring coordination with Client requirements and milestones.
• Coordinate technical assurance activities and ensure designs are reviewed, verified and validated.
• Promote Health and Safety in Design principles across all rail systems disciplines.
