Job summary

IonQ, Inc. in Oxford, UK, is seeking a Software Engineer for the System Orchestration team within System Software at Oxford Ionics. You will build the control plane that schedules work, allocates exclusive access, streams results, and tracks history across the fleet.

You will own features end to end, from API design to rollout on real machines, in a role that emphasizes reliability, high performance, and collaboration in a fast-moving, technically skilled team.

Qualifications

• Experience with systems programming languages; Rust preferred or willingness to learn.
• Strong Linux experience and debugging running services.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL).
• Experience designing/consuming APIs (gRPC or REST).
• Ability to write tests and participate in code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Build and extend the services that schedule work on our systems and keep the record of it.
• Own the data model, its migrations, and the code that reads and writes it.
• Produce tests and harnesses for hardware and simulators.
• Work with systems teams to roll releases across the fleet and support them.
• Improve the observability of the code you ship.
• Take part in code review and evolve the APIs used by internal users.
