Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

Location : Leeds / Yorkshire

Salary : Competitive

Employment Type : Full-time, 40 hours

Recruiting on behalf of a leading Civil Engineering contractor

I am currently working with a long-established and highly respected civil engineering business delivering major infrastructure projects—roads, bridges, and structures—for public and private sector clients.

Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a key role offering involvement in varied and high-profile projects across Yorkshire.

The Role

Reporting to a Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will manage the commercial and contractual elements of multiple construction projects. Your responsibilities will include :

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend sub-contractor Pre-Contract meetings.
  • Preparation of formal sub-contract Agreements.
  • Management of sub-contractor procurement.
  • Measurement of works.
  • Management of legal issues and disputes.
  • Management of important commercial issues.
  • Management of sub-contractor interim accounts.
  • Agreement of sub-contractor final accounts.
  • Budgetary control including monitoring of costs and the prompt identification and management of overspend.
  • Submission of monthly CVR reports.
  • Submission of monthly Profit and Loss reports.
  • Preparation and presentation of Commercial and Post-Contract Reviews.
  • Management and submission of external Applications for Payment.
  • Identification, pricing and settlement of Compensation Events, variations and additional works.
  • Agreement of Client final accounts.

This is a site-based position, offering the opportunity to work directly with project teams and contribute to the successful delivery of diverse civil engineering schemes.

About You
  • Knowledge of NEC Engineering and Construction Contracts and various Methods of Measurement
  • BSc, NVQ4 or MSc in a relevant discipline
  • A valid CSCS card
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques and processes
  • Strong commercial acumen and excellent decision-making capability
  • Ability to communicate effectively, influence stakeholders and solve problems proactively
  • High level of IT proficiency
  • A positive and collaborative approach to work
