What's the role?

As the Quality Manager, you are the site's Quality Leader, directly responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving all Quality Assurance and Control. Your critical focus is to champion a "right first time, every time" culture across our highly regulated, high‑integrity environment. You will lead the quality team, manage vital documentation (ITPs, Lifetime Records, etc.), and spearhead the development and implementation of the fit‑for‑purpose Quality Management System (QMS) for our new manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • QMS Development & Compliance: Lead the setup and continuous improvement of the site's QMS, ensuring full compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and all statutory/customer quality requirements.
  • Facility & Project Quality: Spearhead the quality systems implementation for the new facility setup and manage project quality through the creation of PQPs, ITPs, and control of Lifetime Records documentation.
  • Operational QA/QC Leadership: Direct daily operational quality functions, including dimensional inspection, NDT oversight, and weld quality assurance.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI): Drive a "right first time" culture by applying Lean Six Sigma tools (e.g., DMAIC, 8D) to reduce variation and eliminate non‑value‑added activities.
  • Team & Culture Mentorship: Act as a key mentor to coach and embed quality behaviours, standards, and first‑time thinking across the shop floor and operational teams.
Person Specification:
  • Proven experience as a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Engineer in a regulated, high‑integrity manufacturing environment (nuclear, aerospace, defence, or similar).
  • In‑depth knowledge of welding quality (e.g., CSWIP, PCN), NDT processes, dimensional control methods, and experience working in Quality Control Grading.
  • Lead/Internal Auditor in ISO 9001 and training in problem‑solving methodologies such as 6‑Sigma or 8D.
  • Strong stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills, with a focus on integrity, professionalism, and holding self and others to account.
