Overview

Quality Engineer – Piling, Birmingham. Salary: £25k - £40k + pkg. Regions: Birmingham, East Midlands, Midlands.

We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join a specialist piling contractor to work on a multi-million pound project in the Midlands. Working as part of the project management team, you will report directly to the Project Manager and be responsible for planning and coordinating testing activities and liaising with the Project Manager to complete H&S files and ITP records. The Quality Engineer will ensure that quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, documented, tracked, and rectified.

Responsibilities

• Review requirements specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
• Support project team with QA process, review management documents and lead document submission in accordance with the document management plan
• Liaise with PM and Quality Manager to plan and support QA audits
• Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
• Estimate, prioritise, plan, and coordinate testing activities
• Ensure that all records and packages are completed
• Undertake quality inspections
• Monitor and promote health and safety on site. Record and report any breaches to the Project Manager. If required, stop construction works if unsafe practices are being followed
• Undertake prior review of contractor’s proposed testing & commissioning methods and schedule
• Ensure that all relevant records in accordance with the approved ITP are in place in accordance with the specification and Quality Assurance Plan
• Undertake final project snagging and prepare a list of defects for the contractor’s action
• Attend project, site progress and quality meetings as directed by the project manager
• Monitor quality of the contractor’s construction installations
• Ensure that daily progress reports are produced with regards to Quality

Essential Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant subject
• Previous experience in a Quality Engineering role
• Demonstrable experience of working within piling / ground engineering
• Knowledge of MAID & Quality requirements
• Demonstrable experience of working in multi-disciplinary construction teams
• Good organisational and communication skills
