Job summary

A leading automotive engineering firm in the UK is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the launch of a new automotive assembly operation. This role involves establishing quality control processes, conducting audits, and monitoring quality KPIs. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Manufacturing Engineering and possess at least 3 years of experience in automotive quality engineering. Knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 is essential. This position offers a salary of up to £50,000.

Qualifications

Quality Engineer - Automotive Assembly - to £50k

We are recruiting a Quality Engineer - Automotive Assembly to support the launch of a new automotive assembly operation. This role offers a unique opportunity to embed quality into processes from day one, working in a fast-paced and evolving manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain quality control processes in line with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001
  • Conduct audits and inspections of assembly operations
  • Monitor quality KPIs including scrap, defects, and customer complaints
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Support new product launches and engineering changes (APQP)
  • Maintain quality documentation (Control Plans, FMEA, PPAP)
  • Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal teams on quality issues
  • Train production staff on quality standards and best practices
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in automotive quality engineering
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and core quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC)
  • Knowledge of VDA 6.3 / VDA 6.5 auditing standards
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Desirable
  • ASQ CQE and/or Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Supplier quality or automotive assembly experience
