Job description
Role Overview

We are seeking an Assurance & Standards Specialist to ensure our operational teams follow all Wastewater processes and procedures in line with the Wastewater Recycling Quality Management System. You will oversee corrective, preventive, and improvement actions while providing clear assurance reporting to senior leaders. In this role, you will lead proactive and reactive assurance work, identify non-conformance, deliver statistical analysis, and drive improvement activities. You will also be required conduct assurance audits across all regions, therefore extensive travel across the ST region is a key requirement, as well as ensure actions are effectively managed, and report on management system performance. You will support root cause analysis for regulatory failures or pollution events, identifying control gaps and ensuring corrective actions prevent recurrence. You will also provide evidence, data, and written material for external or legal requests. The role includes leading the ongoing development and maintenance of the WWR Management System, creating and refining standards, processes and procedures. You will use your specialist knowledge of wastewater operations to support improvement initiatives across departments and contribute to environmental compliance activities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in QMS management within a regulatory environment, alongside proven auditing and quality assurance expertise. Knowledge of wastewater systems, processes and procedures is desirable. The role requires exceptional organisational and planning ability, with the professionalism and critical judgement to assess risk and confidently challenge at all levels. You will be adept at managing conflicting priorities, influencing and negotiating to ensure key activities are delivered across the business. Strong communication and presentation skills are vital, as the role involves extensive stakeholder interaction and the clear, balanced reporting of assurance outcomes, requiring sound judgement in how information is positioned and presented. Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too.
