A technical and engineering firm based in Stockport is seeking a Quality and Health and Safety Officer to manage health, safety, quality, and environmental operations. Qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 standards.
  • Experience in near miss / accident investigations.
  • Educated to HNC/HND standard in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent.
  • Quality and/or auditing qualification (desirable).
  • Membership of appropriate technical institution (IOSH, CQI, IEMA working towards).

Responsibilities

  • Focus on internal and external health, safety, quality and environmental management.
  • Maintain and develop systems for legal and contractual risk management.
  • Coordinate safety requirements for emergency plans and fire drills.
  • Review health and safety/quality plans for new projects.

Skills

In-depth understanding of ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 standards
Experience in near miss / accident investigations
Experience in delivering support to office-based employees
Qualified within H&S e.g. NEBOSH/IOSH certificate

Education

HNC/HND standard in relevant technical discipline

Responsibilities
  • Reporting into the Quality Manager you will focus on internal and external health, safety, quality and environmental management of our contracts, providing technical support to all internal teams which deliver a broad range of safety and control systems.
  • The Quality officer will also be responsible for maintaining and developing systems which ensure the risks are being managed in accordance with legal, statutory and contractual requirements.
  • Internal risk assessments, monitor completion of action plans.
  • Audits.
  • Assist in accident investigations and monitor completion of corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Compliance.
  • Coordinate safety requirements for emergency plans, fire drills and access control.
  • Review health and safety/quality plans for new projects.
  • RAMS.
  • Develop effective relationships with the clients HSQE representatives.
  • Be the point of contact for external accreditation companies.
  • Maintain QMS for range of ISO standards.
  • COSHH.
Skills and Experience / Qualifications
  • An in-depth understanding of the ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 standards.
  • Experience in near miss / accident investigations.
  • Experience in delivering support to office-based employees.
  • Experience of functional safety management standard IEC 61508: 2010 (desirable).
  • Educated to HNC/HND standard in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent.
  • Quality and/or auditing qualification (desirable).
  • Qualified within H&S e.g. NEBOSH/IOSH certificate (desirable).
  • Membership of the appropriate technical institution (IOSH, CQI, IEMA working towards).
  • Rail industry (Sentinel) experience would be an advantage.
