Job summary

A local authority legal services provider is seeking an experienced Legal Professional to join their team on a temporary basis. The role involves providing high-quality legal advice, particularly in safeguarding and family law. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years' experience in public sector legal work and be a qualified solicitor or legal executive. This full-time position requires the ability to manage complex legal matters and work collaboratively with stakeholders. The role offers 36 hours per week on-site work.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in public sector legal work ideally in safeguarding, family law or child protection.
  • Demonstrable experience of handling complex legal caseloads with minimal supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Children Act 1989 / 2004 Care Act 2014 and related case law.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality legal advice, representation and support to client departments particularly in safeguarding.
  • Represent the authority in court proceedings and tribunals including case preparation and advocacy.
  • Manage a caseload of complex and sensitive legal matters independently.
