A local government council in Greater London is seeking a Public Health Officer to work on strategic health initiatives focusing on migrant communities. The role involves managing public health programmes and developing recommendations for local health improvements. The post holder will work and provide public health expertise to the Neighbourhood Communities and Mental Health portfolio of work. The key area of focus is the health of Migrant Communities, Refugees and Asylum Seekers.
The post holder’s main responsibility will be to develop a plan and to ensure implementation of the recommendations of the Migrant Health Needs Assessment by supporting partners (e.g. council teams and the North Central London Integrated Care Board) to address public health. As a result it is expected that the post holder will also contribute to Barnet’s Sanctuary ambition and address health inequalities.
The post holder will also contribute to the strategic development and delivery of the workplace health and wellbeing strategy within the council.
The post holder is expected to be a key contributor in setting strategic direction for the wellbeing support offer for the council workforce and to use public health evidence to engage with local businesses on workplace wellbeing. The post requires a good understanding of the public health theories that underpin a productive healthy workforce.
